1937 _N.Y. Times_ 26 Feb. 3 (ProQuest Historical Newspapers)  (adv't) THIS THING CALLED PIZAZZ  Pizazz, to quote the Harvard Lampoon and Harpers Bazaar, is an indefinable dynamic quality.  Certain clothes have it.  There is pizazz in this navy sheer bolero suit spiked up with snappy print.

[NOTE:  Other early citations associate the word with the Harvard Lampoon and Harper's Bazaar, so perusal of those periodicals may well yield earlier citations.]
